Re: Fitting a charging light
Now fitted the item mentioned bought via E Bay - works well - remove the link to be able to check the alternator is charging before fitting - instructions are given. Worth mentioning that the LED is not very bright and the light should be fitted more or less in line of site and not to one side on th...

Re: Fitting a charging light
Kevin, Yes, correct but I initially wanted a light that only came on when the alternator stopped working rather than a multi-coloured version - something that was bright and flashed up if a fault happened. However I have gone for the one on E Bay which is similar to the one mentioned - many thanks. ...

Re: Fitting a charging light
OK, Again thanks for the information. Done a bit of searching having looked on-line at the link shown and have found item number 201338527109 on E Bay. 12mm LED showing red, amber, green depending on voltage supplied by the alternator. Can be changed via a link at the back of the item to shown volta...

Re: Fitting a charging light
Thanks all, I already have a voltmeter but - guess what, I hadn't noticed that the voltage had dropped when there was a fault in the system - so I actually want to fit a light that comes on when the alternator is NOT charging, same as any modern car. Comes on with the ignition on, goes off when the ...

Re: mounting steps
Bit late I know but only just seen this and this reply may be of use to others. The folding step/s was bought through E Bay. It is a folding boat step made of stainless steel. There seems to be two sizes - get the larger as the smaller is really a bit small of us large footed males and the larger ve...

Re: Oil dipstick tube
Thanks for the advice. Bought myself another dipstick tube, cut the part that fits inside the engine to about 2 inches in length from the sweated fitting downwards and fitted it. I have had to stick it in place using an additional bracket and some glue as it was a bit of a loose fit in the engine ca...

Re: Oil dipstick tube
Ken, Thanks for that - I did wonder if I could get away with a shortened tube as the original seems to be straight down from the sweated fitting at the top of the crank case. As my original has snapped I two I am awaiting a replacement so I will cut that to fit leaving a stumpy bit. A lot easier tha...

Oil dipstick tube
Does anyone know if it is possible to fit a new oil dipstick tube to a 602cc engine without removing the manifolds? Mine has snapped in half and being a Burton is going to be a pig to undo all the manifolds to move them out of the way! I have removed the old tube and fixed a bolt in place which is f...
