Re: Supercharged Blackjack Avion
For those outside the North West of England group I ended up having to sell the Avion last April when I "accidentally" bought a Porsche 911 on Ebay one Sunday night (red wine, and an "it'll never go for that bid"). The unexpected success :o meant the Avion and my MR2 Roadster went straight onto Ebay...

Re: Supercharged Blackjack Avion
Thanks for the additional comments. I will be on my Dad's River Run, but I've given up predicting which car I'll be in. It would be nice to be in the Blackjack but lets see. Back when I was struggling with "boost surge" I did consider water injection, but I'm only boosting to 7 psi and the 2cv compr...

Re: Supercharged Blackjack Avion
Blow off valve has now arrived. I'll see if I can fit it next week. Thought an updated video showing polyvee drive and better connections between the carb, blower and inlet manifold was a good idea - the first video is nearly at 9000 views, which my partner says just goes to prove there are a lot of...

Re: Supercharged Blackjack Avion
So its about time for a further update. I've not touched the Avion much for the last twelve months for a variety of reasons - family, work, other car projects, etc., but if I'm honest the big issue has been my failure to make any headway against the problem of getting anything like a stable idle. Wh...

Re: Supercharged Blackjack Avion
I think the ignition being referred to is the 1-2 spark system I mentioned earlier in the thread. I looked at this, but didn't like a couple of things about it, like welding a flag to the flywheel for example. I have no complaints about the prototype 123tune unit I'm using and that hasn't been the s...

Re: Supercharged Blackjack Avion
True enough - I did read many books before I started, but its certainly not a bolt on mod. However, if anyone has a go doing this to a 2cv with an Aisin AMR300 in the future at least there is a record of some of the things NOT to do - I've made the cockup's so no-one else has to!!! I now have a poly...

Re: Supercharged Blackjack Avion
I've just realised its nearly 12 months since I first posted in this thread - I need to get a move on The Ebay Myford lathe arrived by courier yesterday evening. Its now installed/wired up and I've faced to length the alternator polyvee pulley and faced off the front flange of the vee on the crank p...

Re: Supercharged Blackjack Avion
Hello Howard, Thanks for the tip, but 4 1/2" centre height and 24" between centres weighing around 1/4 tonne is a bit big for my garage. I've just won a Myford ML10, which is 3 1/4" centre height, 18" between centres and around 50kg's so a bit more my size - I'll just have to take lots of little cut...

Re: Supercharged Blackjack Avion
Its been a long time since I updated this thread, but accompanying my Dad as his passenger on the 10,000ft run last weekend has got me motivated again. After the last post quite a few things happened: I drove the car quite a few times and still experienced massive pinking under boost, although when ...

Re: Supercharged Blackjack Avion
Not having my own TIG set, silicone hoses is the quickest (only?) way to get it all running and see if it all works. Anyway, momentous news for today is that I've been for a test drive and seen positive boost for the first time. Last week end was a bit depressing, as I couldn't get it to idle below ...
