Re: Electric cooling fan

Hello namster I understand your comment about 'air moved', but not 'heat soak spike'. Surely if the engine driven fan stops with the engine, an electric fan stopping when the ignition is switched off will be no different. A common example is If you've been blasting along the motorway on a hot summe...

Re: Electric cooling fan

It would be interesting to know the power consumption of the engine driven fan but 2bhp doesn't sound implausible. 2bhp is about 1.5kW, not sure on the electric fan you plan to fit but it will me a marked drop in "air moved". The benefit is that it's independent of engine speed and can stay on with ...

Re: Lomax 223 anti roll bar

This video is a good description of how the 2cv suspension works. https://youtu.be/j7pFxgDmZXQ?si=szoN0nvYLGzlbvsu Simply putting one of the rears under tension will really muck up you're front spring rates. The two arms are linked to provide equal raise on the front when you hit a rear bump, or vic...

Re: Lomax 223 anti roll bar

I made up my own ARB for my last pembleton using a length of 5/8ths EN8 bar. The good thing about steel is that regardless of type they all have pretty much the same youngs modulus so unless you're going anywhere near the yeild then you don't need anything particularly fancy It was probably a bit st...

Re: Mvsa1 form for test

That's not true. To get an age related number plate you need to be able to prove that enough components came from one donor car and you essentially scrapped a complete, built car in the process of building yours. For this you need the V5C of the donor vehicle in your name, along with the chassis pla...

Re: Seats for a Lomax

My Lomax had MG midget seats in which were super comfortable and tilted forwards to access the boot area. I would recommend these. They were very similar to these but had new covers on them. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/155088881292?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=wa7Q2zHlRye&sssrc=4429...

Re: Progress

Alan, The Ami had mounts on the front of the swivels for inertia dampers. On mine I also had some rear mounts made up and welded on too. I made some wing brackets out of some barstock, angle and plate. https://thumbsnap.com/s/DsoWHDYj.jpg https://thumbsnap.com/s/Ztrik9Dt.jpg https://thumbsnap.com/sc...

Re: 223 front mudguard support brackets source

I sourced mine from Tonny Visser (spelling may be wrong) Welded up from stainless. I can't find his contact details now but I'm sure someone else must have them to hand.theyre made to order with your measurements. Sorry the pictures aren't the clearest, but should give you a good idea of what they'r...

Re: Rear axle access on a 224:

Alan, I had to remove the rear arm from Victoria (pembleton) and I had to cut a part of the bodywork out and make a removable section. As you know the rear beam is welded in place on a pembleton, but extracting the arm was impossible with the body in place. If you can make a well hidden removable se...

Re: indicator warning light

I'd be tempted by a buzzer behind the dash as fitted to motorcycles. You can get some that are built into an indicator relay.

Lights are easy to miss if you're concentrating on the road, rather than the dashboard!
