Re: Boyer Bransden short ignition leads.
Hi Portuguy We meet last year on the sea front at Armação de Pêra. I fitted the Boyer Bransden coil with original leads. I bolted it with an aluminium heat sink (computer style from ebay) using a right angle bracket alongside the starter motor (using the starter mounting bolt). The heat sink is on t...

Piston ring (middle)
Can anybody spare a new middle piston ring? Happy to pay/grovel, wash your car etc. I'm a virgin engine re-builder and I fitted my new rings then picked up a gritty tool with my oily rubber gloves  . So I thought I had better start again and clean it all. Much harder to get those rings off tha...

Re: lightening flywheel - How much?
Very interesting Ken, that is a good description of what Jon was telling me but I'm sure he had a pointer attached to nearside horn where the engine number is riveted.
But what your saying is copying the mark from the old flywheel should work too. (fwiw)
Thanks again.
Dom.

Re: lightening flywheel - How much?
Thank you chaps (assumed).
I shall sacrifice the original flywheel (seems a shame, but if it works guess I won't want a heavy one).
Will let you all know how I get on.
Any tips on tools/materials for de-coking head?

Re: lightening flywheel - How much?
Thanks Geoff I will try and post a photo of both flywheels tomorrow. The original has a single large hole, the 'new' one has numerous small holes (balancing?) but only one the same diameter as the first flywheel but not in the same position relative to the extra 'dowel' hole towards the centre of th...

Re: lightening flywheel - How much?
Thank you Sillycvs. Hamlin of Bridgewater quoted approx. £60 - £80 to lighten my flywheel (a further £80 to balance on the crank). They seem to know what they are doing. Visited Jon Davies of West Monkton nr Taunton. He has a field of Citroens being recycled. He produced a lightened 3.9kg flywheel a...

lightening flywheel - How much?
Advice appreciated. In the process of rebuilding a 2cv engine having ceased a big end on day two of becoming a proud owner of a 223. I will be fitting 9:1 pistons and barrels to a second hand bottom end along with Boyer Bransden ignition from the club. I have the thinner flywheel 9mm (6.2kg bathroom...
