Re: Side rails and rear suspension arms:

think you must have a 223? I’ve had another look at my 224 and I don’t think it’s possible to remove the rear axle without taking the body off, mind you I have not tried to do it so I’m willing to be corrected if anybody has done it! Yep -I've removed and replaced a rear axle on a 224 without resort...

Re: Voltage Regulator wireing

L->R from the bottom of the regulator. Looking at the plug, obviously, the order will be reversed. Rgrds Callum P.S. I had reg problems after having a play in the snow. Wired up a jump cable to allow me to fit a non-standard electronic reg (came in a box of bits), but that allowed 18v+ into the batt...

Re: Engine running on choke only

Out of interest, what size primary jet are you using? And are you sure that there's one in there? What's the history of this carb? Has it suddenly stopped working, or is it new to that engine. From what you've described, it's sounds mighty like an electrical problem - as most carb problems are... Yo...

Re: Engine running on choke only

Hi, You need to determine if it's just idle, 1st choke or 2nd choke. It sounds like idle, so the internal jets in the carb don't come into play as much. Assuming that the float levels are correct, and that the fuel filter is clean and there's plentry fuel... Take out and clean the idle jet on the ou...

Re: Gearbox: Unidentified Ring

Armando,
That's a syncho circlip/ring. If your box has synchro on 2nd, 3rd and 4th then it may be a 'spare' that someone's not taken out after a repalcement has been fitted.

Re: Lost of the 12 volt

Paul, It would help if you could post a wiring duagram from the Burton wiring loom. There should be no relays in the ignition system (apart from the starter solenoid), but it would probably help to fit relays into the headlamp circuit, as this draws the greatest amperage. Also, check the connectors ...

Re: 4 gear problem

Venture. Make sure that all of your gearchange rubber bushes are in good order. A sloppy linkage is the most common problem for engaging gears.
The most common issue is at the top of the gear lever, coming out of the box.

Also, check that there is oil in the box.

Re: Dyane diffed gearbox

Ron,
Easier to put the 2cv innards into the dyane box - should mean that you don't have to re-shim the diff.
2cv box with Dyane Diff will give a long legged box - more so that a straight Dyane box. Don't expect to start off in 2nd gear though! ;)

OK, I've done all that I can for the time being. The 'Hints & Tips' are now complete along with a new page detailing club members builds. If anybody thinks I'm missing something, then let me know and I'll add it in. Likewise, if you would like your own build featured, drop me a line and I'll see wha...

Jimmy, They should work in all browsers, even IE!. The double-entries were a result of a brain fart on my side, and are now 'fixed'. Clicking on the link should open up the document (pdf file) in a separate browser window. Are you sure that it's not opening a window in the background somewhere? I've...
