Re: Jumping Out Of Reverse Gear

The saga continue. When drained the gearbox the oil was dirty but clear of any large metal bits. The sump plug had collected some swarf but very little. With the lid off the gearbox all appears in order, no sign of unwinding. On jacking up the front of the car, with a little pressure on the end of t...

Jumping Out Of Reverse Gear

Started this the Lomax this afternoon, went to back it out of the garage when it jumped out of reverse and made terrible grinding noises when I tried to re-engage reverse gear. All the forward gears appear to be fine. Could it be the dreaded "unwound gearbox" If it is, I do not have the necessary me...

Re: Exhaust silencers

If it is any help I measured the outside diameter of the exhaust pipe on my 223 and then went trolling through motorcycle silencers until I found one that met my needs. The end result was a sidewinder silencer from Feked.com. I have to say that it is a tad loud, but overly so. There are plenty of af...

Re: gearchange conversion

John Sorry I have not got back to you sooner I have been out of the country. No sign of a pm in my inbox. The floor mounted gearchange was from a Super Ami and I bought it through this site from another member. I have some photographs, they are not great but if you pm me again I will try and get the...

Re: gearchange conversion

John swapping the gear change from the panel to the floor is a bit of a marmite issue. Some members like myself have done it and find it worthwhile, whilst others feel that there is nothing wrong with the original gear change and it does not require changing. It all boils down to a matter of persona...

Re: A question? Floor mounted /dash mounted gear changes

Been meaning to add aline to this for ages. I did change my gearchange from standard Citroen to floor mounted and I personally find it much more pleasent to drive no more bruised knuckles on the dasboard. However, as many more eminent members of the forum have stated it really is nothing more than a...

Re: Door on Lomax 223

My 243 came with factory fitted doors. I still find it easier to climb in, whilst my better half prefers the more ladylike use of the door. I think one of the problems with doors is that they restrict the type of exhaust system which can be used as they obviously have to run below the door level so ...

Re: Floor mounted gear change

Just a brief update.
After much bending and a little modification the floor mounted gear change is fitted.
Have just completed a 275 mile run around mid Wales and it worked a treat. :D
