I picked up some B5HS plugs today at a car show for £1 each. They are one step hotter than the recommended B6HS. ECAS recommend B5HS for "short journeys only" (presumably because they might overheat on a long journey). Has anyone got experience with these plugs? Is it that critical? My usual trips are 5 - 40 miles at a time. Is that a short distance? Any advice would be welcome.

Re: Spark plugs
David,
as Roy at ECAS has advised, these hotter plugs should really only be used with standard (cowled) engines in cars which spend their time in stop-start city traffic.
If used in a 'bare' engine that's worked reasonably hard on the open road, there's a risk that they could run so hot that they'd cause pre-ignition.
Have you got a petrol driven lawnmower in which you could use them?
