Love the scooter! Bournemouth registered! I was a rocker in Bournemouth! No hard feeling though! I watch the film every time it comes on! Brilliant! Graham.

Bournemouth eh?
Right, back to the job in hand. Fuel tank capacity.
Having allowed for the lower volume as taking outside dimensions plus float/sender plus overflow pipe etc my tank is about 4.3 uk gallons capacity.

Hi,going on the fuel consumption on my 2cv,you should calculate about 150 miles on a tank full! This should leave you a safe margin. Graham.

Re: Lomax 223 Fuel Tank Capacity
Thanks. That's about right I guess as it goes from full to showing zero on the gauge at 125 miles. Is yours a std 2CV engine Graham? Mine has the lightened flywheel (I found out today) and high compression pistons so probably uses a bit more. Nice to know there is a bit in reserve though!!!!!
I have sorted the fuel tank vent pipe today.
Just a straight forward pipe; no anti flow valve fitted etc. Wanted to get it as high as possible of course.
I fitted a neat brass/chromed large nipple with retaining flutes (so marine use originally I'd guess) I found in my odds 'n' sods box and drilled & fitted it to the flip fuel cap filler tube then chemi bonded it in place. The nipple is fitted a bit lower such that I can still remove the filler if required from the body work by pulling it up at an angle and still get the hose with jubilee clip holding on well (tight fit to remove the filler though but how often do I need to do that?).

Yes! That should work a treat!Should fill alright now, with a bit of care! All 2cv fill ups will give you a petrol shower if you tend to go too fast! My 2cv is a standard engine, apart from electronic ignition, supercoil. it has covered 63,000 miles & is in great condition! Wife uses it every day & we take it to shows nearly every weekend ,in the summer! We are thinking of selling it as the Lomax is nearly finished & use that to attend shows! We have run 2cvs as our only car for about eight years now ,so it will be missed!

Update:- Went and filled it up today as gauge really wasn't registering anything. Could not believe the speed I could fill the tank at! Wow; no spit back. So pleased I bothered to make the effort. Excellent.
Another 'one' ticked off the to-do list!!!!

That is good news! If the fuel guage is not working at all,it is usualy the earth wire on the tank end!A good clean does the trick!

Oh no, gauge works fine. I just like to slow down the fuel flow as I get near the top of the tank. Force of habit from the Caterham 7!!!!
