CSC Hints & Tips
As 'older' members will be aware, the Citroen Specials Club used to have an archive of 'Hints & Tips' which were available to builders of specials.
This archive was built up over many years from technical articles published in 'Flat Out' and other various sources, but was 'withdrawn' from club members a few years ago over fears of litigation and liability, and the effort involved in photocopying and posting to individual members upon request.
As It's been a bit wet here recently to enjoy the car, I've been busy digitising this archive to make the entire repository of 'Hints & Tips' freely available on the club website.
The first part of it (bear with me - there's a lot of scanning...) is now available under the 'Technical' menu of the main CSC website.
I've still got some to do, but I've broken the back of the task and should have it all published by the end of this week.
I'm interested in feedback from the members as to whether they still find this information useful. If so, I'll start trawling the technical articles in the back-issues of 'Flat Out' for more recent contributions.

Re: CSC Hints & Tips
Hi Callum,
some interesting stuff on there.
"At your own risk" certainly applies to the suggestion of fitting grease nipples on the knife edge shackles; there have been more than a few failures recorded after this modification, some on items which were bought new, with the modification having been carried out by the vendor.
Not me, I might add...

p.s. Where's my soldering iron? And where did I put that box of GS rev counters?

Re: CSC Hints & Tips
I prefer the syringe full of grease with a little plastic tube on the end - much less hassle. I've also used a dry lubricant that works well too.
As to the rest of the modifications, I tend to ignore the dire warnings of engine failure and/or seizure. If it does - so what? Easy enough to repair or get another. It's just a car and money... I've got some of that plus a hot metal pump, a big hammer and a grinder.

Re: CSC Hints & Tips
Great idea that Callum!
Have read lots of the articles and printed a few off for future reference.
I did note that I had to use Mozilla Firefox to open the articles as my version of IE just stopped working after clicking on the relevant sections.
Is that why maybe all the sections come in duplicate (E5 E5 etc)?

Re: CSC Hints & Tips
Jimmy,
They should work in all browsers, even IE!. The double-entries were a result of a brain fart on my side, and are now 'fixed'. Clicking on the link should open up the document (pdf file) in a separate browser window. Are you sure that it's not opening a window in the background somewhere?
I've now finished the 'Hints & Tips' scanning and will endeavour to get the missing ones in there by the start of next week.
I've trawled the recent back issues of 'Flat Out' and added any technical articles from there, but I'll also put together a web page indexing and featuring builds of cars, as that sort of info is sadly missing from the website just now.

Re: CSC Hints & Tips
LOL. My IE now won't go past opening the hints and tips header.
It used to just stop working on opening a topic and shut down as if there was a security issue!!
Mozilla works it fine so many thanks and the more 'history' of the cars that gets added the better. I like reading how club members get over their build/in-service issues!!!!
