Hi,
I've been 'experimenting' with my exhaust over the last few days, and have replaced the rear silencer (2cv torpedo) with a straight through pipe.
Now, it's a bit too loud for comfort, but I have noticed a marked change in where the power is available in the rev range. It's pushed the powerband lower down the revs, meaning that I can now accelerate up steep hills in 4th gear up to the legal limit, whereas before, I would typically have to change into 3rd.
The downside of it is, that I'm struggling to get above 70mph.
I'll have to resort to some sort of rear silencer, but don't want a full-blown (pardon the pun) silenced 2CV box. This should raise the powerband and get me comfortably into the 70 zone again.
Has anybody else played about with rear silencer options? They don't all behave the same......

Re: Exhausts and power bands
Callum,
Are you using the standard cross-box in the front?
