Pancake air filters

Post by patrickhowell » Sat Jun 18, 2016 12:38 pm

Can anyone tell me where to obtain a pancake type air filter and chrome body for a Solex 26-35 carb, which has an oval intake? ECAS has stopped doing them because of quality problems. They are about 1.5 inches high and 5 inches diameter. Thanks

Hi Patrick,

Having exhausted our stock of imported Lomax air filters I had planned to tool up to make them in house but dropped the idea when ECAS started selling a similar version.
If there is sufficient demand I will re-consider tooling up to produce a batch.

Hi

Der Franzose still list the sport air filter - seems quite expensive -see link below.

Hi

In the Pembleton forum this has come up and the consensus - and my experience also - is that the engine breathes better retaining the rubber inlet and fitting an air filter to that, I used a K&N type filter kit from Ebay, came with some straight and bent aluminium tubing and connectors so I managed to tuck the air filter out of the way

Before that I had a pancake filter which was a spare off our VW camper and simply remade the manifold to suit the Solex carb with some spare aluminium sheet, pop rivets and sealant

Hi All,
I have finally found time to tool up to make the sports air filter in house.

Alum construction, 33mm high, 2 layer Ramair filter media with industrial jubilee band to secure onto Solex carb.

see for sale section

I wonder if there are any pancake style air filters available? I didn't see any in the 'For Sale' section and wonder if they have all been sold.

Are you still selling the pancake air filters?
If so, price please?
