kingpins

Post by DMC » Mon Aug 22, 2016 9:33 pm

Hi everyone i am new to this site, i inherited a lomax from my dad who built it in his late sixties and i am now doing a renovation. The kingpins are
worn and need replacing, so i need a set of drifts i know ecas sell them but its a lot of money for a set of tools you would probably only use once
so can anyone lend me a set or could possibly buy them at the right price. Hope to hear from someone, cheers. Dave.

The Haynes manual has a drawing of the drift you will need to remove and replace the bushes. It is a very simple turning job for someone with a lathe, local engineer etc. Removing the old pin can be done with a lump hammer and a suitable shouldered punch but you'll need to make sure the arm cannot move while you hit it! The screw-type pin extractor is an expensive purchase for a one-off use unless someone comes up with one here.
I'd recommend a press if you can take the arms off, a bit less brutal.

Thanks Duncan for that info just bought a haynes manual on ebay, and a local citroen specials club member is going to lend me the drift set. So wish
me luck and roll my sleeves up. Cheers. Dave.
