Hi all,
I thought that while the rear wheel was out having a new tyre, I'd service the brake drum. Half a day later and a new slave cylinder on order, I'm just about on top of it. Everything was seized solid!
Anyhow, next job is new CV boots all round. Are there any tips on separating the track rods without use of special tools.
Thanks,
Paul.

Re: track rods
Anyway if drive shafts no special tools needed, just undo the 4 bolts and 2 nuts on the gearbox end, push the telescopic splined section all the way in and the drive shaft should come away from the gearbox, then pull the drive shaft apart at the spline to change the boots.
If it is the track rods again no special tools needed, the slotted ball cup retainer may be a bit tight due to dirt in the threads but after removing the split pin a large cabinet makers screwdriver should do it.

Re: track rods
Got the split pin out and the slotted nut but after trying to separate the track rod with a bar, it wasn't keen.
I'll give it another go.
Thanks,
Paul.

Re: track rods
That's probably because you haven't aligned the flats on the sides of the 'ball' with the slot in the underside of the housing.
For that to occur, the steering needs to be turned to 'around' half lock, where force to separate the components will not be required...
