Speaking as someone who has bought rather than built his Lomax 223......
Is it possible to remove the fuel tank without lifting the body tub? It appears to be the standard sized Lomax steel tank and there is some space between the top of the tank and the boot floor.
I suspect the tank is fairly well sludged up as the fuel lines are half full of gunge.
Any tips would be most welcome.

Re: Lomax 223 fuel tank removal
Tony,
I have just cleaned out another early tank that does not have a drain point without removal, thus.
remove sender unit, jet hose (preferably warm water) into tank through sender hole to get the gunge into suspension, keep filling an allow to overflow. Can remove filler hose to ease water escape. Once overflow starts to run clear, stop filling and syphon off as best as possible water from tank. Ensure car tilts one way and then use large syringe (like one used for antifreeze mix testing) to extract the rest of the water. Once clear warm tank with hot air blower, hair dryer, fan heater or whatever to drive out moisture and then refit sender etc.

Thanks Bob. I'll have to give it a go. I was hoping for an easier/less messy solution, but hey ho!

Re: Lomax 223 fuel tank removal
Hello Tony.
I have a stainless steel copy of the standard Lomax tank, and removed it by taking off the rear crossmember and arm complete.
Axle stands all round,Remove shock absorber, suspension eye pins, 4 bolts and the brake pipe.
Took me a morning to remove and replace.
