mounting steps
In a recent copy of flat out which I cannot find, a member posted an article re. a folding mounting step fitted to a red(?) Lomax. I am looking for a pair of those folding steps and would be grateful if someone could point me in the right direction. Many thanks

Re: mounting steps
Bit late I know but only just seen this and this reply may be of use to others.
The folding step/s was bought through E Bay. It is a folding boat step made of stainless steel. There seems to be two sizes - get the larger as the smaller is really a bit small of us large footed males and the larger version makes it easier to use.
The steps seem to be made in steel, brass, and stainless steel - go for the stainless I would suggest.
One very important thing is to make sure you re-inforce inside the car side panel with something very strong and large.. Putting 13 stone on the step puts a lot of pulling outward force on the car side panel. Also use strong steel or heavy duty stainless bolts and large washers.
I used a large sheet of 11ply wood stuck to the inner panel of the car (filled the whole panel) and bolted through that with stainless bolts and very large washers on the inside - all ok so far.
Very useful item - makes the legs less painful getting in and out - now, how about an in-car lift - or get Burton to make door mod for their cars.
Geoff.

Re: mounting steps
Did I see somewhere that an Italian firm were offering an opening door for the Burton?
Any references would be very welcome
