Now fitted the item mentioned bought via E Bay - works well - remove the link to be able to check the alternator is charging before fitting - instructions are given.
Worth mentioning that the LED is not very bright and the light should be fitted more or less in line of site and not to one side on the dashboard.
I have wired mine in - black to earth, red via a 2 amp fuse to the ignition side of the circuit. This does mean that when you first turn on the ignition, due to the slight drop in voltage as everything come on the light will show red or yellow - in other words a little below 12v. This is normal but as soon as to get the engine running the light should go green at more that about 1000rpm showing the alternator is working. At idle speed below 1000rpm it may well show yellow as the alternator is running the engine and there is not enough power left over to charge the battery above 12 volts as well.

Re: Fitting a charging light
I've got the wiring diagram to make your own version of this LED indicator, and therefore much cheaper.
Unfortunately beyond my abilities to make though.

Re: Fitting a charging light
Hi all
I note all the suggestions and discussion on this subject, but also that no diagram has yet materialised.
I do have a voltmeter fitted but would like a conventional ignition light as an unmissable sign that (as happened last year) I've lost a fan belt. The voltmeter is hidden from view when the passenger side tonneau is in place. My car has a "continental" bonnet and as a result I have retained the fan.
Thanks in anticipation.

Re: Fitting a charging light
If I wanted a warning light I would fit a conventional alternator from a 652 Visa or LNA and follow the Haynes wiring diagram.
Recon LNA alternators are often less expensive than the 2cv version on e bay.
If you wish to follow this route I can post relevant section of wiring diagram.
