I drove the car tonight with the new tyres on, what a transformation, the steering is light and responsive. Unfortunately me speedo cable broke so I still don't know how much it's reading out.

Does anyone know anyone who can true wire wheels with welded spokes, my right one looks rather wobbly?

Welded spokes?

Where abouts in the country are you?

I had my 17" austin wheels blasted, semi-respoked, trued and powdercoated by Rugby Classic Motors. They run true and straight now, didn't cost the earth and no wheel wobble!

If they've been painted and look original, then the spokes have probably been on there for the best part of 90yrs so they may be locked up solid, in which case the only way to adjust is to cut off and lace new ones in. They managed to do mine on the back spokes only, 12 per wheel. There are 36spokes in total per wheel. They came back like new.

Yes the spokes are definitely welded, I've seen the wheels without tyres on and there's no nipples.

I think I'm going t0 to treat myself to some new wheels, I'll contact Rugby classics as suggested, many thanks for the advice.

Good evening

As expected with the bigger tyres my speedo now reads abut 8 - 10 mph low. What speedo have you fellas with 17 inch wheels fitted to your cars?

Cheers

Ian
