Regarding tightening & self tightening of wire wheel spinners: I have just fitted a new pair of MWS 48 spoke wheels to my 223.
Having previously seen this discussion & decided to experiment & take some measurements .
From thread engagement to hand tight with the wheels seated on the hubs & the car jacked up, the spinners turned about 2 1/2 turns.
(no way will they go 3 1/2)
Then for the subjective bit, I used a 3lb club hammer onto a piece of 2x2 timber to protect the spinner ears.
I do not like over tightening hardware & the previous responses suggest the system should be fail-safe.
4 moderate hits jacked up and 4 on the ground.
This gave an extra 100deg on the left spinner and 50deg on the right spinner.
The spinners & wheels were then marked.

After the first outing today of about 40 miles I checked the marks.
Left side - still aligned
Right side - 2mm (2.5deg approx) UNDONE

Spinners are on the correct sides of the car.

Maybe right spinner was not as tight (50deg vs 100deg on left side) but the previous discussions suggest that should not matter................

I have retightened the right side 2.5deg tighter than previously & will see what happens!

Update on self tightening spinners - or not.
Following on from the previous item, the car has now done about 300miles general driving, mainly with a passenger on board.
Both spinners have tightened up by about 1.5mm at the spinner rim. (right side from the re-tightened position).
