Being realistic

2 years ago I bought a Lomax 223 that had been subject to some modifications from a previous (but now deceased) contributor to the earlier forum.

Immediately on purchase , I got it MOTd and had it transported to my storage unit. The modifications were not to everyone's taste and involved grafting a stainless steel front end onto the body, which although interesting, wasn't to my mind very much in keeping. Luckily for me, soon after buying, a Lomax being split up for parts came up on e bay and I acquired the bonnet and side panels to undertake a conversion back to how it would have looked originally.

In the intervening period, having removed the old body work (took about 30 mins), I have driven it around private roads so I know the gears and brakes work but other than that I haven't done much to it and given that its taken me over 2 years to get this far, I'm beginning to wonder if I'll ever get round to it. Added to that is the fact that the battery has died and I think the fuel pump or carb has sealed up so no petrol comes through when trying to start it.

Does anyone know of anyone who could finish the job off for me for a sensible price? The car is in storage near Chelmsford (SORN)

Failing that, what would it be worth as is? Registered as a Citroen tricycle Feb 1975

Id really like to use it but with my limited time and mechanical know how, I think its time for a reality check

Alexanders2cv near Bury st Edmunds would probably sort you out. He drives a nice Lomax himself, has worked on various customer's kit-cars & specials and presently has a Falcon S in for recomissioning and refurbishment. His prices are sensible, and on top of all that he's a really nice chap, and not so far away from yourself.

p.s. I'm in no way associated. I've met him at a car show last summer, then again through the 2cvGB MadCows local monthly club meet. And I've been across to see his set-up with a view to him working on my own car.
