Dear Bill Head
and all members , what a lovely article " the Lumpy Pot " and so humerously written in the recent Flat Out mag no.169.
I get my copy sent out to Portugal , so im probably a bit late in replying but my first observation of the weak cylinder in the 2 cv engine was that no mention of testing the spark plugs as a first solution , or of just substituting for others.
First i thought of a rat or a mouse stuck up one exhaust pipe , but that would begin to smell awful ! Lastly i thought of the leads themselves having poor connections. Maybe even part of the coil ? I like the dragonfly prize sculpture and hope it goes to a good home .
Still very good touring weather here in Portugals sunny Algarve . I dont know why more members dont move over . I found out that there are only 4 Lomaxes in the whole of Portugal . The 3 wheel variety dont need An MOT, as yet .
Regards Aidan

Hi Bill
I must point out that I'm a bit of a numpty when it comes to engines but I had a similar problem to you and did pretty much the same by way of checking everything. Eventually it turned out to be an air leak on the inlet manifold where it meets the cylinder head. The solution was simple - to fit a new gasket. I hope this is of help to you.
