Reversing light switch

Hello
Has anyone done anything clever in being able to automate the reversing light going on when in reverse? I believe that ECAS have a switch that fits certain gearboxes....but not mine.
I am thinking of a pull switch perhaps linked to the gear selector but I think the theory and practice may not be coincidental!
Any ideas - or is it down to a separate manual switch and warning light

Seen it done with motorcycle stop lamp switch, type with extension spring, or just change rear cover on gearbox with one with boss cast in.

This is how mine works;
As the gear change twists and moves it brings the "roller" on the bracket in line with the arm of the switch and pushes it forward, so turning them on.
Don't know where it came from, but it works even if it looks a "bodge"

The switch in the photo looks similar to RS 621-1515. The roller head and the roller arm can be rotated through 90deg.

Thanks all, for your suggestions. I think I will spec the £18 for the switch and see how I can do it practically on the Burton.

Just a thought. Has anyone considered incorporating a "Proximity Switch". I seem to recall that certain industrial (rising spindle ) valves had proximity switches to give remote indication that the valve was either open or closed
