Wiring Diagrams

Post by Geoff Ryall-Harvey » Thu Aug 30, 2012 10:59 pm

I have a set of wiring diagrams done as drawings of the actual components (see example below). They are much easier to understand than "proper" wiring schematics. These drawings were produced by Richard Oakes. There are seven in total. I can load the rest if anyone is interested. They can be used for any vehicle with a fairly basic wiring layout. I used them to wire up my Pinto powered Ford 100e.

Much easier to follow Geoff, any for the 2CV lighting circuit and ignition circuits? I am trying to add a means of flashing the headlights easily and adding a push button starter?

Hi Geoff,

I would certainly appreciate the information in the remaining wiring diagrams. The wiring in my three wheeler is all over the place and though I've established the connections of about 50%, there's still loads of wires unaccounted for.

Thanks.

Paul

Hi.
The answer is no the hazards will not work with the ignition off.
He has strapped the feed for the hazard lights on the back of the hazard switch to the feed from the ignition switch.

Also how the indicator warning light is wired is wrong it is across two live feeds so it is looking for it earth return through the other lights bulbs ie:- indicating left the warning lamp is looking for its earth return through the right indicator bulbs.

The fuse is a bit over the top at 15 amps you only neeed 5 amps for indicators and for hazards 10 amps

The best circuit for wiring specials is on Callums website I cannot fault it in anyway.
I have rewired two cars using Callums diagram and a third very soon.

What a charmer you are - really..... Are you in public relations by any chance? Perhaps you could post some pictures of your car so we can see the very high standards that you work to and so that we can all aspire to one day, maybe, achieve the same.

It has been working on my car for nearly 80,000 miles without a problem. The hazards do flash with the ignition off - pretty much the point of hazards. But as you are, clearly, a professional auto-electrician then I must have it all wrong. Thanks for pointing it out in such a tactful manner.

The point of these diagrams is that they are easier to follow than schematics for us lesser beings. For all us thickos I will email the diagrams direct if you PM me - as I don't want to upset peterj any further.

I have offered these diagrams to increase the number of items on the new website, to help members who (like me) might have problems with conventional diagrams and to share information with other enthusiasts. I do not want to get into a competition about who has the best diagrams or is the cleverest or because I want to have an arguement with a keyboard warrior. There are other forums I could use if I wanted that sort of thing. I had thought that the CSC Forum was a refuge for people who like to get involved in sensible and reasoned and polite discussion.

Paul - I won't be cyber-bullied any more. I had it on the other forum and I won't have it here. As I am not a paid up member of the CSC and peterj appears to be then I will simply not post any more on this forum.

Geoff

If you intend to stop posting here, a forum which to my mind is dieing on it's feet through lack of use, that would be a great shame as I enjoy reading and learning from your posts. Peter's post could have been more tactfully put but sometimes what appears in black & white print was not intended to be taken in that way. I know what you mean by "cyber bullying on the other site" and it's a great shame that a forum becomes a vehicle for someones aggression and things are said which they wouldn't dream of saying to ones face.

Please sleep on it Geoff.
