I'm trying to source the windscreen glass to fit a 'standard Lomax factory-built car.
Does anyone know where this is available from, or how easy/expensive it is to have made locally?
Also, how easy is it to extract the existing broken screen and fit a new one?

Re: Lomax Factory Windscreen
Callum,
The glass in mine broke, so I carefully took it out, taping the broken piece just in case, and took it to a local glass company and they cut a new laminated one for £40 (cash!).
Any glass merchant who sells laminated should be able to do it, otherwise look for a Plant Glass Fitter in your area, as they cut and fit regularly to diggers, etc, or even an independent windscreen company.
Mine came out reasonably easily, but it depends on what was used to fit in the frame. Mine was clear silicone which had started to degenerate. It was refitted with clear silicone from the glass company that made it.

Re: Lomax Factory Windscreen
Callum,
I had a screen cut and fitted by a RAC windscreen workshop in Glasgow for my Bong Bug, quick and reasonable.
Any competent windscreen shop should be able to join t you in the right direction, even way up north.

Re: Lomax Factory Windscreen
Windscreen removed and with glazers now. £44 all in with quick turn-around. Now just have to figure out how to refit it...
Thanks for all suggestions.

Re: Lomax Factory Windscreen
If it is going back into a channel shaped frame I asked the glass company for some nylon flat spacers and put these in the bottom section so that the glass was held probably 5mm from the bottom of the channel.
Then dry fitted the glass to the complete frame to check it fitted. You might also need spacers at the sides to stop it slipping sideways.
Once the fit was confirmed I put plenty of clear glazing silicone in all the channel sections and put it all together.
Once fitted leave it for 24 hours to allow the silicone to go off, and you can then clean it off.
