Hi, I have a 26/18 solex carb on my lomax, this is a restoration so no idea if it ever ran properly or not. I've got a huge flat spot at the lower rev range but as soon as the second choke opens everything is fine. The thing is there doesn't appear to be a primary main jet! The secondary main is a 90. The emulsion tube is a 1F2 and the seconday air correction jet is a A22 I think. There isn't any tappings for a jet so its not been removed!
Any thoughts guys?
thanks

tonplus,
that's because Solex did quite a good job of hiding the primary main jet on certain versions of the 26/35 carburettor.
You'll find it at the base of the nearside float bowl, with access via that blanking plug with a 12mm hexagonal head.

If your carb is the 18-26 version ( primary venturi before secondary
), a 110 jet is a good place to start for a Lomax with 2 into 1 exhaust, no preheat pipe and a pancake air filter.
Retain both the IF2 & 2AA air corrector jets.

Ah thanks Ken, will have a closer look when I get in tonight. All I have to do now is find a 110 jet!
Will have phone around and see what I can come up with.

Paul,
a pin vice plus one of these?

A 57 number drill would also be in the right field, it seems...

All sorted, a completely different car!
I used the imperial jet conversion tool of 3/64 of which I purchased 10 at 57p from tool station.
.
Thanks Ken.

Paul,
isn't that closer to 1.20mm, which might well push the mixture a bit rich?
If it turns out to make the beast too thirsty, you could tap the drilling out and fit a Mikuni jet...
