Burton Turbo Charger
Hi Guys have been considering a turbo charger for my PAC threewheeler. Have any of you guys looked into this way of boosting the 602cc engine.Would this mod reduce the reliability of the engine to such a degree that it would outweigh the extra horsepower over a period of time.Im not thinking of becoming a boy racer but just a bit more power for motorways as where i am situated i do a lot of motorway travelling to our various meetings and rallies. would like to hear your views. regards roger

Re: Burton Turbo Charger
Hello Roger.
The former owner/builder of your car, Spike Collins, was a brilliant engineer who, as well as constructing the car, made from scratch, a supercharger for it! The performance, as you would expect was transformed.
He and I travelled together to the Detling transport show a few years ago, with him towing the caravan he'd also built. He was behind me as we approached the long drag of Detling hill. I changed to third and just about maintained 40 going up the hill. As a gap appeared in passing traffic he pulled out and overtook me and continued to pull away into the distance!
A CSC member fitted an Aisen supercharger to a Blackjack Avion a few years ago and the how he did it should still be in the library somewhere.
The only person that I'm aware of fitting a Turbocharger is Alan Bradford of Silly CVs. That was a long time ago and with fuel injection and an ECU involved, it was not cheap!
A bigger engine perhaps?
Good luck!

Re: Burton Turbo Charger
Hi Hutchi thanks for the info i have some pics of Spikes caravan. Yes Spike was a clever engineer and our car is a credit to him. Iris and i have had great pleasure with the car we have been to Spain Germany and France driving all the way. I did put a 1000cc guzzi engine in the PAC but it looked all wrong I dont really want to change the look of the car. Just thought that 652cc conversion is not worth the effort but a turbo used sensibly might be the answer. I have now put the guzzi in a 224 i purchased so still playing with crazy ideas. Hope to meet up with you in the near future regards Roger

My son Andrew fitted an Aisen supercharger to his Blackjack Avion, videos are on YouTube search for Andrew 911TargaAvion
, also fitted 123 adjustable ignition , the car was last heard of in France with the charger removed
