Suspension tie-rod ends
I'm trying to work out whether I have standard or long suspension tie-rod ends fitted to my Lomax. The various suppliers give their lengths, but don't say whether that measurement is overall, or from the centre of the hole. Anyone able to confirm which it is?
Re: Suspension tie-rod ends
If as said you are talking about tie rod ends for me there is only one lenght 91mm, if you are looking for the tie rod then long (640mm) for the rear and short (600mm) for the front.

You can get 91mm or 130mm length. I just want to confirm that that's the overall length of the part.

Re: Suspension tie-rod ends
Not sure how / where you arrived at those dimensions for two available options.
The original Lomax exchange eye bolts were 1" (25mm) longer than std> Ecas sells items they quote as 110mm (std) and 132mm long (20mm longer than std).
It would make sense that the Ecas dim is probably measured as an overall length (they would soon confirm via tel call) and possibly the 91mm you refer to is the std (110mm) item measured to hole centre.

The length of my eyes (measured with a normal ruler and a MK1 eyeball) is 108mm overall and 91mm from the threaded end to the centre of the eye. Mungo is a 224 and has standard eyes, his donor was a Dyane.

HI,
Info from Burton,
2 types:
- The regular, The eyes of the tie rods may wear and even break where they are fixed by the knife edge on the swingarm. Replace them with these new ones. These tie rod eyes have a length of 91mm, what is standard for the A-types from June 1972.
- And the Extra long tie rond end eye, 130mm. For lowering your car safely! There will always be enought screw thread of the tie rod in the end piece. Suits all different models of Citroën A-type.

Re: Suspension tie-rod ends
I had a reply from Burton -- the measurements are from the centre of the eye.

Re: Suspension tie-rod ends
Regardless of the length of the eye bolt and how it is measured, what would be considered the minimum safe engagement length of the tie rod into an eye bolt?
