Looking for a local Machine shop to lighten a 2CV Fly Wheel.

Post by Dutch Trader » Sat Jul 15, 2023 8:31 am

Hi, I live in Maldon Essex and wondered if anybody around here had had a 2CV F/W lightened?

Any recommendations? At least within say a 45 min car ride from here.
Would be good if they had done one before.

On another note, I bought a spare engine last year and it is this flywheel I want to get done.
I was not aware at the time I needed a later series engine (to go on a Pembleton)
How can I check this please?

I have read a few descriptions on what is needed.
Is there a drawing for the modifications?
(Fully aware of needing to deepen the timing hole)

Regards
Richard

HI,

I have had a few recommendations to Gosnay's in Romford.

They have come back to me, but insist on having a before and after drawing/good sketch to quote the job.

Are these drawings around?

Also I had a thought. Although not planned. If I were at some future point to fit a big bore kit.
Would this change the flywheel requirements?
I don't want to find out in 2 or 3 years I need a heavier flywheel.

Thanks for any input.

Regards
Richard

Hi Richard - flywheel lightening is all discussed and laid out by John Nash in section 2 of his booklet "It's not a mouse but a Lion". PM me and I can email you the info.

Cheers
Bill
