Rocker arm replacement.

Hi, unfortunately my Avion broke down just north of Inveraray in the Scottish Highlands. It was a stunning but rural location for the 6 hour wait to get rescued by the AA, which they did an amazing job of, given the location.
Anyway, the problem is just a broken rocker arm on one of the inlets. The question is, can I just get a new one and unbolt the old one, or do I need to remove the head , barrels, etc ?
Also, where is the best place to buy the said rocker ar, as I want to use oem equivalent parts.
Cheers, Ian.

Hi Ian.
There's no need to remove anything other than the rocker shaft. It's held in place by 2
"Citroen" bolts. They, from memory have a square head.
Take note of assembly order of the thrust and "wavy" washer.
I expect Ecas would be able to help with a new replacement arm.
Good luck.

Those strange citroen bolts with rectangular heads can be replaced with M8 socket head cap screws which will probably make tightening with a torque wrench more straightforward.

I’ve never seen one broken was the valve clearance too wide (was it getting rattley as of late) or engine over reved. Possible bent valve now ..

Hi all, sorry for the late reply. The problem was traced to a blocked hole in the banjo bolt that feeds oil to the right hand head. The inlet valve had stuck and it snapped the rocker. Head off, piston and barrel were all OK, absolutely no wear marks on the barrel at all and i could still see some cross hatching, so the engine really has not done many miles since my dad rebuilt it. I got the head reworked by a local machine shop that did my MGB head. The car is now all back together and seems to be running well. I also flushed through the other oil way pipes, with no other blockages being found. Thanks for your help and comments. Cheers, Ian.
