Lomax chassis

Hello Folks.
My Lomax has developed an annoying clicking from the front suspension, and this weekend I decided to get to the bottom of it.
To my horror, I discovered the drivers side front spring/shock mount has fractured the weld almost all the way around, and ripped out the chassis side.
The lateral force from the spring and /or shock has fractured it.
If it had let go on a bend........
I can weld, but this is a mess.
Couple of questions:
This is a Lomax chassis, and it appears the round sections of the mount are just butted to the chassis and welded round. Is this the case with a standard chassis?
I am thinking 'possibly new chassis' , depending on condition of remaining material. Wont know till I get the suspension off and have a better look.

ECAS are local to me, but dont appear to sell chassis any more, 2CV shop sell a variety. Are the more expensive ones any better than the cheaper ones?

Rob,
as far as I'm aware, some Lomax chassis used this same detail as early Wheels chassis, on which the carriers for the suspension canisters were cut from scrapped Citroen chassis and welded onto the outer face of the longitudinal frame members.
The Wheels chassis of that era were prone to failure in the same mode...

Hello Ken.

You have confirmed what I suspected.
When I built the car many years ago,I remember the hangers and shock mount studs looked used...

Rob,
from 'day one', almost 30 years ago now, all of my chassis have used this layout, with the 60mm OD crosstubes having 3mm wall thickness, compared to Citroen's 2mm.
