Seats for a Lomax

Post by woodywoo » Tue Jun 25, 2024 8:35 am

I have just bought a Lomax whcih has been fitted with Mercedes A class seats (!). They are very comfortable but are not really suitable because the backs are very high and do not tip forward which causes two problems- firstly access to the rear area is very restricted and secondly they are too high/bulky for the tonneau to fit.
So, can anyone recommend suitable seats which will suit my Lomax better that will alleviate the above issues and also, does any one have some for sale?
Thanks, Nick

I fitted some rear seats from a Renault Scenic. There is an article in Hints and Tips under the Technical tab.
There is also an article on the Forum by Vyv Cox 'Lomax Seats' about fitting amore recent version of seats from a Scenic.

Hi

I am also considering seating options for my 'project' Lomax.

The Mk1 Mazda Mx5 'Harvard' leather seats look suitable, unlike most mx5 seats they have detachable headrests, they lean forward and they also have a period look about them. The downside is that they will be in the region of 25-30years old !

Personally, I would like a bench seat as this maximises space, so am also considering rear seats from modern cars.

My Lomax had MG midget seats in which were super comfortable and tilted forwards to access the boot area.

I would recommend these. They were very similar to these but had new covers on them.

Mine originally had Fiat 500 seats, the 1970's model not the latest offering. These were super comfortable but really high. I felt that I was sat on the car, not in it. These were replaced with MG Midget seats. Perfect.
