I've been offered a 5 spd Visa gearbox + engine - has anyone fitted this combo into a Citroen 2cv engined kit car?
If so what are the performance benefits and how was the installation done?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks , Nick

There was never a aircooled 652 ccm Visa with a (Visa) 5-speed-gearbox........ think it will be a 4-cylinder-watercooled.......

Even if you have the visa flat twin, the visa 4 speed gearbox has no means of fitting inboard discs..
They were on the wheel end of the drive shaft.
.nor is the bellhousing cast with openings to take the discs.
Better is to find an LN box which has the casting for mounting discs inboard and also it takes 2cv drive shafts as bolt on.-.not needing adaptors.
A GS box itself is similar but needs new bellhousing and input shaft...The gS one is too long and has a wrong starter bolting..and wrong type drive shaft coupling....
If you do fit the flat twin, keep the wiring to the electronics separate to the plug leads.. or you will burn out the sensors...
You need the black box electronic control- with its plug and some leads to connect correctly.., the vacuum sensor that is at the front by the grill and vacuum tube..this changes the control from slow to fast running due to carburetor vaccum.or you will ruin the control box.
other than that its easy...

Hi
I have done this conversion on my Dyane, Citroen 652 Visa engine mated to a LNA gearbox. The ratios with the extra power of the Visa motor are perfect, even better than the Visa box. Also the drillings for calipers on the Lna box are for GS calipers, the output shafts of the box are too large to take the GS discs so need 1mm removing from the outside edge and the discs will need drilling as the bolt pattern on output shafts is the same as 2cv but GS are different. You will also need 25mm spacers as the casing for Visa, Lna and Gs boxes are narrower than 2cv box. The motor has same mounts as 2cv but you will have to make up a rear mount for gearbox. Hope that helps and hasn't put you off

Cheers
