Poor starting

Hi,
After a long period of inactivity I decided to take out my Lomax 223. Unfortunately I had a few problems and had to resort to the crank to get it started. I did about 10 miles and had the same problem after parking up for 10 min then again after only 5 mins of running. Each time I press the starter all I get is a slight dimming of the ignition light then if I am lucky the starter motor will kick in. It felt like a poor earth but so far I have been unable to find one. It was the hottest day of the year and the engine was very hot. The battery was reading about 11V. Any suggestions as to where to start looking would be good as my wrists now ache.
Regards

Simon,
sounds like your battery needs replacing.
Note the relationship between % of charge and voltage.

Btw, what's the voltage when it is running?
Too much voltage is just as bad as not enough, 14.4 volts should be the upper limit.
