An inline filter has shown more air in the line than petrol.
I think I've been advised that the fuel line might be split at the sender - maybe by 2CV City?
Is there a way of checking that without taking the body off?

If you can separate the fuel pipe at a lower point than the tank it will siphon if it doesn't the rubber pipe is split. Simples.

Just to make sure I understand - I separate the pipe (hopefully at a join!) somewhere along its run between tank and pump, and if the fuel flows out, there's no leak?

Yup if you can find a joint lower than the bottom of the tank the fuel should then syphon out the tank but if you have a split in the pipe near the sender ie air can get in the fuel will stop running out of the pipe... Ps a fuel filter usually has trapped air in it unless it's used vertical

Thanks
The air bubbles are coming into the filter from the pump end.
