SU carb in Lomax - pictures?

Hi all,
How does one fit an SU carb to a 2cv engined Lomax and then get the bonnet on without drilling a large hole to clear the dashpot? A picture of someones setup would be appreciated if you've managed it. My bonnet is the traditional Lomax one with little clearance above the airfilter glassfibre 'bridge'.
Cheers, Bob

The way to do it would be to make a new manifild rather than sitting on an adaptor on top of the standard manifold. My Avion has the SU sited at the front of the engine and close to the top of the crankcase. A similar arrangement should easily clear the Lomax bonnet.
The manifold consists of stubs made from the stock manifold joined to a custom section which mounts the SU itself. The two are joined by short sections of 38mm rubber hose. See attached picture;

David Emery, the new owner of the Avion project, can now supply the original Avion SU manifold parts I believe if you want a relatively "off the shelf" solution.
I think his contact details have appeared on forum before, but if you can't find them let me know and I'll post or pm them. He may be out of contact for a week or so, I think he's motor cycling around Europe.

Thank you, both,
The picture makes it very clear. Ok on the possible source of ready-made manifold, too.

If you're using an HS carb facing to the rear, don't forget to allow for the downward movement of the jet when the choke is operated. I nearly had to do a re-make! My 223 has a Continental bonnet so height was not an issue. I was able to use the standard manifold with the adapter raked at about 45 degs, sitting on top of a Tufnol spacer.
