Replacement gearbox has automatic clutch
Ive found a similar drum gearbox but the clutch is automatic type im told . Box numbers not identical either but similar . The gear parts look all ok . Maybe have to switch them over to my own gearbox as bell housings may be slightly different .Any pitfalls here in this operation .? Thanks again Aidan

I would take the other one out and try fitting the newer one... The automatic clutch is within the flywheel like an expanding brake [I had an ami estate with one-wonderful for driving past London in traffic..just the throttle to push ..]
It might well all fit together nicely ...

Re: Replacement gearbox has automatic clutch
Citroen's 'centrifugal' clutch setup actually has 2 clutches, mounted in tandem; the centrifugal 'crown' is bolted to a special flywheel with its drum mounted on the gearbox input shaft.
The second clutch is of conventional type, with a pressure plate, driven plate and release bearing.
However, all is not lost, since the drum can be removed from the input shaft and a normal clutch used instead, if memory serves me well...
