Blackjack avion windscreen or aeroscreen or aeroscuttle

Post by andrewc » Sat Feb 22, 2014 7:42 pm

Hello,

I'm hopefully well on the way to buying an Avion, which should be a great car but currently has a slightly unflattering split screen and I'm wondering if anyone knows of any of the original Avion split windscreen / aeroscreens parts being available.

Failing that has anyone had a go at coming up with a mod to use some lexan type motorbike bubble screens, or are there any other options - I have seen the Brooklands screens with the Kimble curved alloy cover which looks good, but I was wondering what other options there are

Thanks,

Andrew

There's nothing available off the shelf. The Kimble screens with the plinth will only fit if you have an AeroScuttle. It's not difficult to make a vee screen in a DuVall style. Depends what your skills are.....

Do you know the chassis number of the Avion you're about to buy. I have a register of all the cars and know many of them.

If you used something like this;

You'd just mold the edges to the scuttle shape using a heat gun, fit a rubber seal and bolt it down using fairing bolts.

Andrew,
I am now the proud owner of the Avion construction equipment, and can supply a new perspex screen for either the standard car or the clamshell version.
I have some of the glass for the original vee screen, but unfortunately I can't currently supply the pillars due to manufacturing difficulties.
If I can be of help please give me a call on 07932 084994.
David
