Re: Fuel tank access
Paul,
up until 1980, steel tanks of 20 litres capacity were fitted on 2CVs & Dyanes, later ones got the 25 litre plastic model.
The mounting points are identical, only change was the shape of the short rubber hose connecting the tank to the filler neck.

Re: Fuel tank access
I did actually mention all this about tanks- metal and plastic - and tank volumes and sizes with regard to lowering it from between the chassis arms a few posts ago !!!
As is possible with a 4 wheel Lomax.

Ken
I presume (perhaps wrongly) that he wasn't using a forty year old petrol tank.

You mentioned plastic and steel tanks a few posts ago? The amount of useage this forum gets, I'm surprised I didn't see it. (434 members and the same old dozen or so who bother to write).

Re: Fuel tank access
Don't use a hole saw, they require a pilot drill to locate and hold the saw is position. The drill extends some 30mm beyond the saw face so you will end up with a neat 6mm hole dead centre of the finished hole, unfortunately the hole is in the tank
Remrmber a hole saw needs torque to cut and using without a pilot will result is a disaster.
I would use a joiners tenon saw and progress very very slowly...checking all the time. You'll end up with a square hole but that can be covered up to give a pleasing finish.
best of luck Bill D
