Lomax 2CV/Dyane coils
I have taken over a Lomax 223 based on a Dyane and suspect that the twin ignition coils are not working as well as they should. In a couple of weeks I shall be taking the car to Spain for the winter and would like to take some spares with me. I have seen references to a 'sports coil', can someone please point me at a source?
Thanks.
Thanks.
Re: Lomax 2CV/Dyane coils
What make you think it does not work properly? Because must of the time it's a binary issue, working not working, it might as well work when cold and not when hot, it's a good idea to have a spare anyway, about sport coil there are some dry coil producing higher voltage thus the ignition cables need also to be changed, most of the registered suppliers have this type of coil. Do not forget that if of a different format than the standard one then a special braket will be required for installation.

Re: Lomax 2CV/Dyane coils
I got my super coil set from Ecas 2cvparts Stafford.
New HT leads, coil and mounting clamp.
Fitted for 2 years with 123 electronic ignition, no problems.
The HT leads are long enough to fit coil by starter motor, and the Low volt connections are ring terminals, so more secure than the standard coil push on type.
£155 sounds expensive but it is fit and forget..
Alternatively, you are welcome to the standard coil my set has rendered surplus.
I am in Telford, so probably not too far away?

Re: Lomax 2CV/Dyane coils
Yesterday we drove the Lomax to the meeting at The Bell, Tong, where we met several members and had an enjoyable discussion. During this there were several references to failed coils and the need to carry spares. On our return home we suffered a total engine failure, fortunately it seems only due to poor wiring connections to the coil(s). As we are taking the car to Spain for the winter it seemed prudent to have at least one spare, or to upgrade to a better type.
The car has electronic ignition with two small coils, replacement one or two of these would probably be sufficient. I would be pleased to buy used ones. Rob, can we come to an arrangement please?

I've got a box with a couple of standard 2CV coils in, and you are welcome to one of those.

Email me bryant133@virginmedia.com with your address and I can post 2 coils, one tested, one untested, just return postage costs is fine for me, unless you are around telford in the future....

Re: Lomax 2CV/Dyane coils
Thanks very much for the offers. I live between Mold and Wrexham. Rob, I will take you up on your offer, thanks very much. Will email you.
I now understand the cause of my confusion. My Lomax has two, six volt Lucas coils. Due to being wound into a loom I have not yet established how these are wired.

Re: Lomax 2CV/Dyane coils
Having had problems with Standard ‘2CV’ coils on my Lomax 223 I now use a Boyer Bransen coil and it runs lovely. In September I completed a 2000 + mile round trip run to the German Three Wheeler meeting and Raid Angoulême with that coil and had no ignition problems at all.
