Convert 602 engine to 652cc
I want to use the barrels and pistons of a 652 engine on my 602 engine can I do this? if so how please. I remember seeing something on youtube when someone had done this on a Lomax but can't find it now. I am in no rush I want this for my Pembleton. I have another engine which I will convert if this is possible.
Cheers JIM

Hi Jim,
I've done this conversion, you can find all the details in Flat Out issue Jan-Feb 2013. The crankcase must be split and machined as shown.
Also as well as the barrels and pistons you will also need the cylinder heads as they have an O ring seal and bigger valves.
If you don't have this issue of Flat Out I can Email the details to you if you like...
Regards Howard

The 650 engine is far more advanced and much stronger regarding bearings and etc.....why not use the whole lump as you have it there....????
The benefit is the torque available...speed is similar eventually..especially with a 2cv box...

Re: Convert 602 engine to 652cc
The lump is very rough although the barrels look ok. I have bought new pistons and a 652 gasket set. The engine I will convert was given to me and is a very low mileage engine which was taken out of a 2cv many years ago after it was wrecked. It sat in the corner of a garage for many years until the garage owner moved some rubbish and found it again by then he had moved on and to him it was rubbish. I was very lucky to get it just before it went into a skip. I have also got the gearbox which I will sort too in the end i will have two engines one spare in the event the other goes wrong so at least I will always be on the road. Also Howard your a star sending me the PDF as always pictures are better than a thousand words.
