GEARBOX BEARING

Post by rocketronbish » Tue Oct 07, 2014 1:39 pm

I am currently rebuilding a 2cv box and fitting a Dyane diff. But cannot seem to obtain the bottom rear bearing which is a split roller with shoulder. I am told it is a specific bearing ( NO identifying marks) for the Citroen gearbox and no longer available!
Is this true or can someone point me in the right direction ...Please !

I'm replacing the top rear bearing on my dyane box hopefully to fix the whine most noticable in third gear. I notice both rear bearing outer races are not a tight fit in the case. Is this normal (maybe the cover plate clamps down onto the bearing outer race shoulders?) I was debating whether to loctite the replacement bearing in. Advice please - cheers Bob

I have used Lock-tite bearing retainer on old stationary engines, vintage scooter and motorbikes and not had any issues, so I'd say "Yes", use some!
